About
Plain facts. No referral fees.
An honest register.
Choosing a retirement home is one of the harder decisions a family makes. Most directory sites are not on your side: they sell your phone number to whichever home pays the highest referral fee, and they bury the actual phone numbers behind a contact form. We do not do that. The phone number on each listing is the home's direct line. You do not need our permission to use it.
Home for Seniors is an independent register of 776retirement homes in Toronto and Scarborough, all of them licensed under Ontario's Retirement Homes Regulatory Authority (RHRA). The data on each home - address, phone, RHRA licence number, and the regulated care services the home is allowed to provide - comes from the public RHRA register. We do not invent, edit, or filter the underlying facts.
Visitors should feel less alone with a hard decision. The visual system signals "you can trust us" through restraint - generous whitespace, serif display typography, paper-warm background - rather than through trust badges or verification stickers.
Our position
Why we exist
The family is alone with one of the heaviest decisions of their lives, comparing across multiple homes for the first time. Existing aggregators gate phone numbers, push referral fees onto operators, and read like ad-tech platforms rather than independent resources. We exist to change that: a plain register of public facts, free to browse, free to call.
What we will not do
We do not accept referral fees. We do not gate contact information behind forms or matching algorithms. We do not rank homes in exchange for payment. We do not use stock photography or emotional manipulation. We do not claim to verify what the RHRA already certifies. We do not add our margin to the decision you are already making.
What we promise
Every home on this register is RHRA-licensed. Every phone number rings at the home directly. You will reach a person, not a call center. We succeed only when a family calls or visits and the home reports a resident move-in 30 days later. That alignment - we earn when you win - is the only business model that makes sense for a decision this large.
How we make money: We receive a success fee from the home only when a resident moves in within 30 days of first contact through our site. The family always pays zero. If a resident does not move in, neither the home nor we earn a fee. Your call costs nothing.
How to use the site
Browse the full register from the homepage and filter by city or care type. Open any home for the full address, phone, RHRA licence number, all licensed care services, and a short list of questions families have found useful before they call. If you would prefer someone else to make the introduction for you, leave your details on a home's enquiry form and we will reach out within a business day.
If you are using an AI assistant - ChatGPT, Claude, Perplexity - and would like it to cite our register, we publish an /llms.txt file with the structured contents.
If something on a listing looks wrong - a number that no longer rings, a home that has closed or moved - write to us through any home's enquiry form and we will correct the record. The faster wrong data leaves the register, the better the register is for everyone.
